The Story
I opened Pawned
for my anxious rescue.
When I adopted Biscuit in 2019, every pet store felt like a fluorescent warehouse with a thousand options and zero answers. I wanted someone to look at my dog — actually look at her — and say "here's what she needs."
So I became that person. I spent two years working with veterinary nutritionists, visiting farms in Michigan and Wisconsin, learning how to read an ingredient label the way a butcher reads a cut of meat. Pawned opened on a Tuesday in March 2022. By Friday, I knew every regular's dog by name.
We still hand-stamp every treat bag. We still keep Biscuit's bed behind the counter. The brass bell above the door is original to the building — 1947. We didn't change it.
